Thank you for your interest in TNR Talkback, TNR ONLINE's online discussion forum ("TNR Forum"). TNR Forum exists to foster discussion on articles that appear in the print edition of The New Republic and in TNR ONLINE, our online journal, and to permit its members to join with other readers in discussion on topics of your choosing. To ensure a civil forum community, users are required to follow certain rules. These rules, applicable for TNR Forum specifically, are in addition to the Terms of Service and Legal Disclaimer for TNR ONLINE, which may be found here and which are applicable to your use of TNR Forum except to the extent inconsistent with these rules.
Use Indicates Agreement with These Rules and Accuracy in Registration
| In using TNR Forum, you agree to be bound by the following rules and conditions. You further agree that all information you provide in your registration is accurate. If you do not agree with these terms, you should not register or participate in TNR Forum.
TNR Forum is an English language forum. Although readers from other countries are welcome to use it, use of TNR Forum is governed by U.S. law. |
Principles of TNR Forum
The New Republic has always been an invitational forum and never an ideological pulpit; the same holds true for our presence online. Above all, we ask simply that you voice your opinions in a tasteful manner, respecting the many others from around the world who form this online community.
You might want to spend some time following discussions ("lurking") before you participate. Discussions are more rewarding when users post messages relating to the discussion topic and avoid repetitive or excessively lengthy posts. Posts to TNR Forum are publicly visible to all visitors. You can always contact us by e-mail at online@tnr.com. You can find information on submissions and sending letters to the editor of The New Republic here.
Links
TNR Forum permits users to post hypertext links to content hosted and maintained by third parties. Although linked sites are not generally reviewed by moderators, links are subject to treatment like any other type of content posted to the Forum. You may not include a link in the Forum that directs users to any content or information that, if posted in the Forum, would constitute a violation of these Forum Rules and Conditions.
The linked sites are not moderated by The New Republic, are not under The New Republic's control and your access to any linked site is at your own risk. You should use your own judgment before you use any link or access any linked site. When leaving the Forum using any link provided by a user, you should be aware that The New Republic's terms and policies no longer govern, and, therefore, you should review the applicable terms and policies, including privacy and data gathering practices, of that site.
The New Republic makes no claim or representation regarding, and accepts no responsibility for, the quality, content, nature or reliability of sites accessible by hyperlink from the Forum. The ability to include links is provided only as a convenience to you, and the inclusion of any link by a user of the Forum does not imply affiliation, endorsement, or adoption by The New Republic of the linked site or any information contained therein.
Users are Legally Responsible and Liable for Posts
You agree that you are fully responsible and legally liable for the content that you post or made through the use of your name and password. If your password is lost, you may generate a new password by clicking the "Lost Password" button in the forum. If it is stolen, contact The New Republic by e-mail.
The Right to Move, Edit, or Delete Posts
| The New Republic believes in free expression and active and open debate; we do, however, expect users of TNR Forum to follow rules that protect other users and persons from the invasion of their rights and privacy. The New Republic does not pre-screen, verify or edit the content posted by users in TNR Forum. The New Republic has no obligation to monitor TNR Forum, or any submissions or other materials that you or other third parties transmit or post on TNR Forum. The New Republic does, however, have the right, but not the obligation, to monitor TNR Forum and the materials you transmit or post.
